About the Centre for Quality Management System, Jadavpur University
Centre for Quality Management System, popularly known as CQMS, was established in 1994 in Jadavpur University, a “Centre of Excellence” in the country. CQMS instituted National Level Forum like “Indian Congress on Quality, Environment, Energy and Safety Management Systems” (ICQESMS) in 2001, “Plastics and Sustainability Forum” in 2007 and state level forum “Destination Plastics Bag” in 2005 and “Antilittering Campaign Week” in 2006 and “IconSWM and Exhibition on Municipal Service, Waste Management, Urban Development & Public Works”. 5th Indian Congress on QESMS was held at New Delhi in 2007 by CBWE, Ministry of L&E, Government of India.
CQMS is involved in research on Total Quality Management, Waste Management, Packaged Drinking Waste Quality Management, Plastics Waste Management & Recycling, E Waste Management, Municipal Waste Management, Six Sigma, Quality Environment & Safety management, OHSMS, Workers participation & education, Quality in Higher Education, Inclusion of environment criteria in International Standards and so on. CQMS carries a number of national and international research projects.
CQMS has training courses on Entrepreneurship development, Supply Chain Management, Multiskill Integration, Production Management, and Operations Management and on all above subjects of research. CQMS provides consultancy work on TQM, Municipal DDP Development, Waste Management, Project Management, Product Development etc. CQMS is a pioneer institute promotes value added training programmes, Workshops, Symposium, Seminars on a wide range of multidisciplinary subjects and recent issues. CQMS works in tandem with industries, NGOs, Central & State Governments for research, training and Consultancy. CQMS has significant role in ISO TC 61.
About the Air, Water & Waste Management Association in India (AW&WMAI)
AW&WMAI – The Air, Water & Waste Management Association of India - is an independent and non-profit making association, working in the public interest to promote and develop sustainable waste management in India. AW&WMAI is the only association promoting sustainable and professional Air, Water & Waste management with an integrated approach. AW&WMAI serves to safeguard public health and welfare in a joint effort with multi stakeholders towards achieving waste minimization and recycling of valuable resources pillared on the principle of sustainable development which will promote the development and adoption of less-polluting and more-resource efficient products, processes and services.
